More and more people are going online. Many people even state that they’d rather watch a video about a product rather than read text about it. With YouTube seeing the majority of that traffic, it’s worth getting in there!
YouTube reported in 2014 that they have “more than 1 billion unique users visit” each month and that “according to Nielsen, YouTube reaches more US adults ages 18-34 than any cable network.”
With that being the case, many businesses are getting online video as fast as possible.
What’s really important, as ever, is quality over quantity.
Best Video Editing Software
It may be tempting to get a video camera or smart phone, take a few shots and then edit them in a free video editing software. Really, though, there are some things to take into consideration. Most importantly, getting the best video editing software.
It can make the difference between a simple edit to your footage, or hours of headache.
Some of the best video editing softwares are the simplest editing softwares.
Windows Movie Maker, for example, or Apple’s iMovie are great choices that often come with the computer. YouTube also has their own online YouTube Editor.
For each person what is best varies, but your key steps should be:
- A good video editing software
- Basic knowledge of video recording techniques and editing
- Consider hiring a YouTube editor or movie editor
YouTube Editor: Someone Who Knows How to Edit Videos
This might sound like a pitch, given that it’s one of our services, but it should be noted how important this is if you’re not skilled in this area.
For many businesses, this is a side venture – a low cost marketing step. Investing time is still an investment and if you don’t have time for it, it’s best to tell someone what you want and get them to do it for you.
Too, a skilled movie editor can apply video effects, will use good video editing software, and get your video onto YouTube.
What is the Best Video Editing Software?
Here at Blazing Web Services, we’re really big fans of Apple’s Final Cut Pro X and its suite of programs. They offer a high level of options and customization for your videos. In fact, it’s the same software used in Hollywood for many of their films.
The suite itself is sold by Apple for $300, and its companion software Compressor and Motion are $50 each.
It’s really one of the best editing softwares we’ve used.
There is also Adobe Premier and After Effects which are part of Adobe’s Creative Cloud offering. They are for use at $19.00 a month through Adobe.
Coral and PowerDirector have also had a pretty strong following, but certainly aren’t as popular as the premier softwares from Apple or Adobe.
One thing I’ve certainly come to understand is that there is a reason why those two softwares stand where they are.
A huge community of open source, free, stock, and paid plug-ins for both Apple and Adobe Softwares boost them even further, giving them more power than the companies themselves provided.
We also can’t fail to mention iMovie and the stock video players that come with most PCs again. They are great initial options. The only hang up you’ll find is that they tend to be a cookie-cutter version of a more versatile software. So while they may be “drag and drop” or have templates to follow, when you start to grow into offering really great video content you may find some limitations.
Is It Really That Important What Video Software You Use?
Like anything else, it’s the quality that will get you the best results. For businesses that want their videos to go viral, chances are a quick flip-cam shot and upload to YouTube won’t be enough. Viewers will, however, come back if they see you have great content that you’re offering.
So is it important? In a word, yes.
You’ll reach your audience, engage your audience, create a new audience, increase your visibility in web searches, and provide regular content for your viewers that will convert to buyers.
What if you don’t have the time, the skills or the software?
